Aki-to

Branding

January 6, 2018

After receiving the briefing, I started researching about Finnish culture and came across an embroidery typical of the region. I noticed how the thread entering the fabric gets smaller, creating a delicate tip.
Also, the word aki-to is Japanese, and I wanted to bring a little of that couture to the mark. In my research, I studied the kanji and realized that because a brush is used the stroke of the symbol gets finer.
So at the time of creating the logo, I considered these two parts of the research. Thus creating a font for the logo that was minimalist, but that brought the idea of reducing the stroke according to the end of the letter. From the logo were deployed patterns that can be used in different ways for the branding of the hotel. Therefore, the concept is to bring minimalism found in both Japanese and Finnish culture, in a modern way bordering on brutalism. Making the gest almost feel like it's he's sleeping in a modernist museum.
